Once upon a time there were two guys, Steve and Leighton, who met in
the United States Marine Corps and served together overseas in the first
Gulf War in 1990.
Since their honorable discharge from the armed service, every year the two
get their families together and take the kids snow skiing. On the way
home in 2006 in a truck stop restroom in the middle of Nowhere, TX, one
large and well fed individual exited the restroom without even looking the
direction of the sink. Attempting to keep the kids from touching the dirty
door handle they noticed the door was broken at the bottom and they used
their foot to open the door and the concept for the Footpull was born.
The idea of quitting their current jobs and going full time to pursue their
great new idea was an easy one. Being that Steve's post-military
background was in security sales and Leighton's in residential
construction, what could go wrong. After all, how hard could it be to
engineer a product, legally protect the intellectual property, learn about
aluminum forging, packaging, marketing, trade shows, international
shipping....
Bottom line is that with a lot of hard work, they overcame their premature
decision, all of their mistakes and embarrassments, and finally got their
act together. In late 2006 the Footpull finally became a reality. It came in a
little late and way over budget, but it is finally here and has been a huge
success so far. Thousands have been installed to rave reviews have been
offered. There has, unfortunately, been one return, but a 99.95% approval
rating is outstanding by any standards.
Now everything at Footpull is finally running smoothly and while the ride
was a tough and humbling experience, Steve and Leighton are more than
happy to share their experiences and knowledge with fellow entrepreneurs
and anyone interested.
Please, drop them an email or feel free to give them a call.
